"Skyler", a must see film- especially for digital designers and techies- as it exemplifies the integrated roles of film makers and creative artists and shows technology's role for communication in relationships today. A look at the website- one sees social media profiles and actor conversations and the designing tools used to create the collage poster from film stills.
Director, Clenet Verdi-Rose, whose directing talents extend beyond story telling to his artistic creation storyboarding, the posters, and website images. Similar to Tim Burton,( Academy winner Director whose drawings soon to exhibit at the LACMA ),
Clenet Verdi-Rose began as an artist and took his creative skills to the screen directing. In this film, his artistry extended to
using Adobe Photoshop and plugins for digitally enhancing photos from the film for marketing the film.
The film, "Skyler" also incorporates examples of Social Media communications that are now impacting relationships and are portrayed on it's website as the actors use Skype, texting, and Facebook profiles. Skyler follows the couple whose relationship is challenged by current dating behaviors and choices conflicting with true love and morals.
Many lessons to be learned and arenas to explore -imploring us also to consider how technology impacts our lives as it becomes major vehicles for communications, and filmmaking.
